Today 2A enjoyed a fun game to practice all the addition facts and strategies we have been learning this chapter. The students chose digits and though of as many 3 digit numbers as they could using only those digits. Then, they chose 2 numbers to add together. They compared sums with a partner, and the student with the greater sum won a point!
Try it out at home!
You will need a set of digit cards: 2 zeros, 2 ones, 2 twos, etc. (20 cards in all) and blank paper.
Place the cards face down. Each player chooses 6 cards. Players make as many different 3 digit numbers as they can using only the cards they chose. Each player chooses two of their 3 digit numbers and adds them together (If the hundreds are greater than 9, choose different numbers to add). Whoever has the greater sum wins a point!
