Second Grade in School Snow Day

It was an in house snow day in 2nd grade today. The school doors may have been open but inside the theme of the day was snow. We started the day learning about Wilson "Snowflake" Bentley who dedicated his life to capturing close up images of actual snowflakes. We observed how beautiful and diverse each snowflake is and that each one has six points. Snowflakes truly are a wonder.

Continuing with our snow day theme we decided to turn our classroom into a winter wonderland by creating our own snowflakes while we learned about similes. Students enjoyed comparing snow to just about everything under the sun! We then made our similes and paper snowflakes into a book to take home.

Everyone went home happy as a clam!
