Dear Parents,Rav YochananIn the short time we've had in the classroom this week we focused on the important aspects of Rosh Hashana. We went to the creek outside of school and learned about Tashlich. We read the words of the Tashlich prayer and emptied our pockets, physically and spiritually, of all of the negative things that we were carrying. We also learned a historical lesson about the Beit Hamikdash and its destruction by the Babylonians.Gedalyahu ben Achikam came to visit us in the classroom! He told us why we fast on Tzom Gedalya, the day after Rosh Hashana. We then understood what can bring on hatred and why it is more important to focus on loving your fellow Jew.As a reminder, please make sure that your child does his or her Chumash homework and brings the choveret (workbook) back to school with him each day.Wishing all of us a Shana Tova U'Metukah!
