Thank You for a Great Year!

Dear Parents,

The end of the year has quickly approached us and I can hardly believe that the time has come for me to return to Israel.

I have had such an amazing year and this will be an experience that will stay with me forever. I was fortunate to come to such a special school filled with students who know, speak, and understand Hebrew beautifully and have a deep connection to Judaism and Eretz Yisrael. I felt blessed to come to school every day to teach a group of motivated students who loved to learn and who displayed sensitivity and caring towards each other.

I would like to thank Rav Ronen and Elana Cohn for all their support this year. Thank you to Adiya who was my right hand. Lastly, thank you for trusting me and for all the warmth and kindness you have shown me this year. I wish you and your children the best of luck next year and in the future. We sent home a CD with the students today with all the songs that we learned in hebrew throughout the year.  The children were so excited to receive it and can't wait to listen to it all summer long!Enjoy!!

Please keep in touch and please visit me when you are in Israel!

Machberet L'mizkeret, Summer Work and End of the Year Party!

Dear Parents,

Today your children brought home their workbooks as well as their "Machberet L'mizkeret" (memory notebooks). They are binders that are filled with the writing that your children have done over the course of the year. Please review them with your children and take pride in their progress. Please take the workbooks out of their backpacks as well.

I also sent home a booklet of practice work to do over the summer. I highly recommend doing this work as it will help your children retain everything they have learned this year.

Yesterday we had our end if the year party! The children in kittah bet enjoyed making signs for their room in Hebrew, getting their faces painted and playing fun games!

Stay tuned for a final e-mail tomorrow!

Rain of Nachat

Throughout the year, our wonderful students have collected "a drop of nachat" every Friday.
Today, the students said all the things that they are good at, and there were so many good qualities.  Each student then created "a rain of nachat".
Our drops were Hershey kisses and our umbrella stick was a nice glittery pencil that the students got to choose.
It was so nice to see how much good they found in themselves and each other!

Shavuah Tov!

Second Grade Discovery Learning Day!

Throughout the year, the Second Graders have been keeping track of how many books they read. For every 100 books they complete as a class, the class earns a prize. We are so impressed that the prize that was thought of and won the vote was... Second Grade's very own Discovery Learning Day!

The topic was rocks and each group of students was given a rock for the day. The challenge was to correctly identify which type of rock (metamorphic, igneous, or sedimentary) you were given. The students engaged in tons of hands on activities to understand the characteristics of each type of rock and how it is formed. Some highlights included squishing layers of bread to represent metamorphic rock, melting wax to represent igneous rock, and making our own trace fossils. Some of our projects need time to dry, and we can't wait to bring them home on Monday!

Tefillah Outside!

Because of the beautiful weather yesterday, Kittah Bet decided to say Tefillah outside! Surrounded by nature, the children were inspired to say Tefillah with extra kavanah, as they thanked Hashem for His wonderful creations.

2A Reviews Addition and Subtraction

We are so proud of all the Second Grade students for completing our math curriculum! Today we played some games to review our addition and subtraction. The students had fun playing with partners, rolling dice, adding, subtracting, and even solving word problems. We are excited for more fun review activities like writing our own math graphic novels!
